Afrotainment boss DJ Tira is clearly unimpressed by music download site Fakaza. This website provides free (unauthorized) download of songs that are sometimes for sale on digital platforms like Apple Music.
Because of the free download the sites offer, it has emerged as one of the most trafficked sites in South Africa.
Making a song or album available for free download without the owner’s prior permission is of course illegal. So it might be said the site engages in some illegal activity.
DJ Tira is aware of this. Yester 10 September 2020, the muso gave the finger to Fakaza in a tweet that sparked a debate instantly. You can check out his tweet below.
It might be noted that this isn’t the first time the star DJ and producer of the “iKhenani” fame has denounced the site. He had done that previously.
Some fans were of the opinion that Fakaza – and other music download sites – cannot be stopped because of the massive poverty in Africa and expensive data subscription charges in Africa.
What do you think?
