“African Princess” and “Na Nusu” singer, Nandy, today 1 May 2020 remembers her late friend and lover, Ruge Mutahaba.

Until his death at age 49, he was one of the visible figures in Tanzanian music and culture as director of strategy and programs development at Clouds Media Group in Tanzania.

His death in 2019 in South Africa, said to have been the result of renal failure, left Tanzania’s entertainment industry in mourning. Artistes like Chidi Beenz, Banana Zorro, TID, Chris Lunda, Memo, Adam Mchomvu, Izzo Bizness and others paid tribute to him in songs

It was a particularly traumatic experience for Nandy at the time, as reports had it that she was in a relationship with Ruge, who died one month to their wedding.

The late Ruge Mutahaba would have been 50 years today 1 May 2020. Nandy wrote of him on her Instagram page with a picture of them together:

I will always pray for you! MUNGU akupunguzie adhabu ya kaburi babaaa… huku tunaendelea vizuri kikubwa zaidi tunayaishi mafunzo yako! HAPPY BIRTHDAY RG 💖… 1/5/2020.”

By the way, Nandy and Ruge Mutahaba kept their relationship quiet, as they feared some people would not approve of it. The songstress recently postponed the US leg of her Na Nusu World Tour.
